Put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. So then, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

Old, well-worn clothes can feel pretty comfortable. But these old garments must be discarded, and the cross of Christ makes this possible. Having shed our old filthy garments covered in sin, we put on Jesus. Freshly clothed with the righteousness and holiness of God, we are re-created in Jesus – a new birth – a new self – new clothes. As new creations, we are living proof the old has died and the new has come. We have risen from the dead and come forth from the grave at His command. Your past is forgiven. Forget it. Look at its gravestone, walk away from it and don’t look back. You are now alive in Christ and raised to walk in newness of life.

This is who you are.
